Koelbel Developments

Past Developments

Understanding the development revolution that the suburbanization of the Americas would bring, Walter A. Koelbel began pursuing Colorado land acquisitions along the path of growth in the 1950s. This pioneering strategy resulted in Koelbel and Company leading the way in some of the state's most prestigious communities.

Residential

Cherry Hills Village

Beginning in the late 1950s, Koelbel and Company purchased parcels in Cherry Hills Village — one of the first incorporated towns adjacent to the Denver city limit — establishing one of Denver's finest residential developments.

Pinehurst Country Club and Community

One of Denver's first master-planned golf communities, Pinehurst Country Club was developed by Koelbel in the 1950s — and stands today as one of the Denver area's premier communities. One piece of property remains in development: The Bluffs at Pinehurst, which boasts luxury townhomes in a prime location.

Vail Cascade Village

In the mid-1960s, Vail, Colorado, was a small, emerging ski resort. Anticipating down-valley expansion, Walter Koelbel purchased prime streamside property at the foot of Vail Mountain, earmarking 18 acres for Cascade Village, an upscale town center anchored by Westin Hotels. Ideally located near Vail's westerly-most ski lift, Cascade Village provides a unique ski-in/ ski-out opportunity and includes the 320-room Cascade Club Hotel, the 65,000 square foot, state-of-the-art Cascade Club and a 425-car parking structure.

Commercial

Centennial Promenade

A 560,000 square foot retail center, located directly north of Park Meadows Mall, Centennial Promenade was developed jointly with Opus Northwest, LLC. One of the area's largest open malls, it includes 52 tenants such as Borders Books, Ultimate Electronics, REI, and Toys R Us.
